John Overby - CEO & President

A successful entrepreneur, John founded, or was a co-founder, of three successful technology companies. Two of the companies achieved rankings of #13 and #105 in the INC 500. The companies, Advanced Hardware Architecture, Advanced Input Systems and World Wide Packets, were subsequently acquired and are publicly traded today.  He was most recently Director of Client Services at Sirti, a Washington State economic development agency that accelerates the development and growth of innovative technology companies. John’s track record bringing innovative, fast growing companies up to positions of business strength and profitability makes him an ideal choice to lead FlyBack Energy.   He understands the energy saving significance of the FlyBack solution, and he and his team anticipate fast acceptance and rapid company growth.

Marla Telin - Chief Financial Officer

Marla Telin brings a wealth of experience in accounting and financial management.  She has held executive leadership positions at three high growth start-up technology companies: Advanced Input Devices (acquired by Esterline Technologies), Advanced Hardware Architectures (acquired by Comtech AHA), and World Wide Packets (acquired by Ciena Corporation).  At each of these companies, she was successful applying
financial resources to maximize growth and increase shareholder value.   Marla has had oversight responsibilities for staff operations, employee recruiting, benefits administration, payroll and taxes, and stock and equity incentive plan administration.  She has been involved in several funding efforts that resulted in tens of millions of dollars in venture and private equity capital. 

Mark Stambaugh - Vice President of Engineering

Mark is an experienced, successful R&D engineer and a technical team leader with 29 years’ experience designing microprocessors and RF communications test equipment for large corporations.  His excellent leadership skills and experience makes him well suited to perceive and implement solutions that further the energy market’s long range technical and business view, and he maintains a healthy balance between the short term needs of a business and its long term development through innovation, mentoring, and strategic investments in process and technology.  Mark possesses deep technical skills in digital hardware and embedded firmware and has held engineering leadership positions in such companies as Hewlett Packard/Agilent Technologies and Texas instruments.  He is the author of articles in several highly regarded technical publications and he holds nine granted patents.

John “JD” Dunlop - Chief Operating Officer

John is a Professional Engineer and a proven leader with road experience building high performance engineering and manufacturing teams, and guiding solution development and production efforts to on-time, on-budget success.  His industry segment background includes Life Science, Semiconductor Production, and Capital Equipment and Materials Development.  John is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP),
and his technical sales experience allows him to clearly and precisely present even very complex solutions to both engineering and executive audiences.  John’s several patents and peer reviewed publications attest to his grasp of innovative technology and personal resourcefulness while developing world class new products and processes.

Dan Daines - Vice President Sales & Marketing

Dan is a veteran of several high-tech start-ups helping to bring innovative new products and services to market quickly.  He has a long history of successful business development, strategic marketing and partner alliance management experience.  His career moved from product design and development into international and key account sales management at DiviCom.  He demonstrated strong marketing instincts and entrepreneurial drive while leading sales and marketing teams at SkyStream Networks and Viewgraphics, to achieve their business goals. While at a Fortune 500 company, Dish Network (later spun off as EchoStar,) Dan created and managed the launch of ViP-TV which provided satellite based video head end services to Telephone Companies.

 

Founders

Phillip N. Smith - Senior Vice President, Business Development and FlyBack Energy Co-Founder

Phil has over thirty years’ experience in all facets of electro-mechanical and solid-state telecommunications equipment and systems, and large-scale DC power and electronics development and management.  He began his career in the U.S. Navy as a fire control technician and has held field and design engineering positions with such companies as GTE (Verizon), American Telecom, CDI Interglobal, Ratelco and others.  Phil started and operated two telecommunications companies—Interconnect Telephone and WSBS Enterprise—and he has broad experience in sales, marketing, and corporate management.  Phil is a co-founder of FlyBack Energy.

Paul Babcock - Vice President, Science and Technology and FlyBack Energy Co-Founder

Paul has twenty-nine years of experience in industrial electronic applications, as a technician, training specialist, service manager, project manager and applications and design engineer.  Paul has worked with public entities and private organizations in fields ranging from avionics, power generation, telephony and alternative energy.  He has broad experience designing and implementing custom communication and electronics systems in both the public and private sectors, and in developing large-scale communications solutions for the oil and gas
industry.

Paul is recognized for his expertise in alternative energy systems and power generation for companies and individuals in especially remote locations.  Paul is a co-founder of FlyBack Energy.

Dave Babcock - Vice President, Product Development and FlyBack Energy Co-Founder

Dave has spent the last 20 years in the electronics industry performing development, applications, and field and test engineering work for Telect, C&D PowerCom and Ratelco Electronics. He has broad experience designing, maintaining and repairing power-conversion systems and communications, commercial and consumer electronics—especially as a
builder of a wide variety of test equipment.  He is the author of several
technical manuals. Dave is highly skilled in the component, board and system level design of electronic products and he has particularly broad knowledge in switch-mode technology, Ferro-resonant technology, inverters, DC to DC converters, and power supplies. Dave is a co-founder of FlyBack Energy.

 

Outside Board Members

Jim Osborne - Board of Directors

Jim is President and Chief Engineer for Osborne Transformer Corporation, a transformer maker recognized world-wide for superior products.  He has 46 years of electromagnetic design experience, specializing in transformers, inductors and power electronics. Jim has developed hundreds of innovative electromagnetic components for leading businesses in the energy, transportation, and testing industry. He helped FlyBack obtain several patents related to how groundbreaking electromagnetic components interact.

John R. Coghlan – Board of Directors

John, a Certified Public Accountant, is President of Genesis Financial Inc., a publicly traded, diversified financial services company.  He has over 40 years of first-hand experience investing in and advising fast moving, fast growing start-up companies. An entrepreneur himself, John was Co-founder, Chief Financial Officer, and Director of Labor Ready, Inc. a leading provider of temporary labor to the light industrial and small business markets nation-wide.

Dave Hensel - Board of Directors

Dave has had a successful professional career in mechanical engineering that includes service with such organizations as Ford Motor Company and Boeing, and in private practice in architectural design and construction.  Dave designed, built and operates the largest private hyperbaric oxygen chamber in the United States, licensed for hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) of such serious disorders as multiple sclerosis, carbon monoxide poisoning, crush injuries, stroke and diabetic problem wounds.
